We worked with a group of adults in the Ukrainian community in Enniscorthy, providing life-drawing classes. We focused on developing their observational skills as well as their confidence in their own work. We worked with their interpreter, Arzy, to organise the classes and gather a group that would be interested. We based these classes on our own knowledge and experiences from learning how to draw and studying art in general.
By asking them to engage in exercises such as blind drawing and tonal drawing, we hoped to develop their drawing skills and give them the opportunity to explore their creativity and capture the likeness of their friends and family.
We were very lucky to be able to work with Tetiana Sherbul, Serhii Kolesnyk, Olena Velychko, Luidmila Ananyeva, Olga Mykytenko, Svitlana Pavlenko, Liudmila Kanivchenko and Olena Yatsyk. They were very friendly and eager to learn and take part. We witnessed their improvement throughout the classes. It was a great learning experience for us as artists and as members of a community.
